Navigating grief through the pregnancy loss & infertility journey…
Grieving processes are both cultural and personal processes.
The culture you were raised including your family, society and religion in is likely to have informed the ideas you have about what grief is, if and how it’s acceptable to publicly or privately mourn, if and how if it’s appropriate to support someone grieving and much more. From this cultural soup our own beliefs and behaviours around the process of grieving evolve.

The Complicated Case Of ‘H’. When undigested trauma, repetition compulsion, privilege, capitalism & internalised oppression intersect.
If you come from a complicated family with strict expectations and rules, have ever experienced divorce, family rupture, the grief of losing a parent or are a veteran, chances are you might have more in common with Prince Harry than you think!
In this Coronation week long read (10-15 mins) I'll walk you through a somatic trauma therapist’s-eye view designed to give you some insight into what might be informing some of what we’ve seen unfold in a very public way in the House of Sussex. I hope you enjoy it!
I have a confession to make: I’m a compulsive news scroller. It’s a problem!
Even though I gave up social media for a few weeks over the Xmas break, I couldn’t break my addiction to the soothingly dissociative effects of spiralling down the rabbit hole of the 24-hour news cycle.

Take a Pregnant Pause Before You Swallow That Supplement
There’s perhaps not a more important time to be more scrupulous and selective about what we are putting into our bodies than when you are pregnant, lactating, or looking to conceive. With so many conception and pregnancy products on the market, which ones do you need to take? And what brands should you choose? I hope this article may shed some light on what can be a confusing matter, and help you to make the most considered, informed choices that you can for a healthy, happy pregnancy and beyond.

What is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a holistic health practice focusing on treatment via the structure and function of the body. It was founded in the 1800s by American physician Andrew Taylor Still. Born on the frontiers of European settlement in 1828, Still grew up amongst Indigenous Americans with a Cherokee great grandmother. He trained as a conventional medical doctor and served as a surgeon during the American Civil War but many experiences, including the failure of medicine to save the lives of three of his daughters from spinal meningitis, led to his desire to reform the medicine of his day.
Still took his inspiration from nature as well as indigenous peoples

The Importance of Preconception Care
If you’re thinking of falling pregnant in the future, the optimal time to start preparing your body is at least 6 months before conception to provide the best health outcomes for both mother and baby. The healthier you are, the healthier all of the cells in your body will be – and this applies to the egg and sperm that will form the basis for your baby’s entire life.

What Does A Naturopath Actually Do?
Naturopaths are like the general practitioners of natural therapies. They study a four-year Bachelor of Health Science in Naturopathy to learn how to blend modern scientific knowledge with traditional and natural forms of medicine, making them a great starting point to access the world of holistic health care.

Attachment or Authenticity; which would you choose?
As we stand as adults, attempting to do this ‘adulting thing’, you may wonder why sometimes you just don’t feel much like an adult. It’s strange to think that, once, we were the child whose main concern was when we’d next be hanging out with our friends or, were the lyrics to the Eurythmics’ song really “sweet dreams are made of cheese”? The echoes of such thoughts and feelings are still relevant now during adulting, though somewhere along the line you learnt to sing the correct lyric despite every ounce of your vocal cellular memory desperately holding onto the word cheese.
This is exactly my point, though. No, not cheese—the memories our bodies hold and the connection the body has with the mind, emotions and the environment we were raised in which includes homelife and your wider community.

How to Improve Your Gut Health
Every person has a unique microbiome, which is influenced by diet, lifestyle, home environment, stress, exposure to toxins or chemicals, past medical history and history of medications. The gut has a significant impact on our overall health, and the more diverse your gut microbiome, the better your health will be.

How Is Your Energy Feeling?
Hi there beautiful soul, how is your energy feeling?
Your energy is sacred and needs constant attention and protection.
Here are some ways that I find so supportive when it comes to nurturing and protecting our energy.

What Do You Do For Fun?
Am I imagining it, or did we have an easier, more natural relationship with fun in years past? Cast your mind back to the pre-pandemic days and, as you remember those simpler times, can you feel the tension lifting across your shoulders and the corners of your mouth curling upwards into a carefree smile? Admittedly, I have no research data to back me up, however I suspect there’s a collective need to reboot the fun centers in our brains. Are you with me?

You Are Designed To Heal
Take you mind back to your childhood and remember all the cuts and scrapes you had, possibly even the bones you broke and the childhood illnesses you navigated. There may be the odd scar here that serve as testament to your healing prowess.

Acupuncture Demystified
Because acupuncture originated in China, a culture so distinctly different to our own, there is so much that can be ‘lost in translation’. So, let’s clear up some of those key misconceptions.
Acupuncture works on the nerves. True or False?
An acupuncturist’s goal is to restore balance to your vital force (‘chi’ in Chinese). Think of your body as a landscape covered by an interconnected river system. In acupuncture these rivers are called ‘meridians’ and instead of carrying water they carry your vitality. Acupuncture points act like gates controlling the flow of this precious vitality.

Stretching Time
Stretching Time
I don’t know about you, but I often feel that time accelerates once we hit spring in Canberra. I know that technically the days are getting longer and that with daylight savings our evenings also stretching further. This extra spaciousness could potentially have me feeling like the pace of life is slowing down but it doesn’t. I think it’s the looming deadline of Christmas (now less than 70 days away!) that creates the sense of time being compressed. However, this year I’m determined to stretch out the remaining days of 2022 by choosing to focus on the simple pleasures of life.

Reiki - Energy Healing
When it comes to our wellness journey, we do things like eat healthy, move our bodies, have a massage and meditate just to name a few. While all of these are absolutely wonderful and nourishing for us. We can often miss the one thing I believe we have ignored and become disconnected to for a long time. Healing our energy. We are energy, we are nature and in order for us to be all we can be here in this life time. Our energy needs to be nurtured, loved and supported.
This is where Reiki can be a beautiful safe and gentle energy healing modality to weave into your wellness toolkit.

Hayfever
Spring in Canberra is a glorious time, with delicate blossoms and sunny wattle putting on a show, the days lengthening and warming up. Except, of course, if you’re a hayfever sufferer, in which case sneezes, red sniffly noses and teary eyes are the norm. If you’re one of the unlucky 15% or so who suffers from hayfever there are things you can do other than hide in your room, to ease the discomfort.

Manage Your Pain With Traditional Chinese Medicine
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) considers pain to be caused by the lack of free flow of qi and/or blood. To put it simply, when the qi and blood move freely, there is no pain. Unfortunately, the flow of qi and blood can become inhibited at any and every area of the body. The internal organs, joints and ligaments, muscles can all be affected by qi and blood stagnation. What causes the stagnation?

You’ve tried Physiotherapy. But have you worked with a Holistic Physiotherapist?
I am a physiotherapist with over 30 years of experience. My work and techniques are constantly evolving, as I hope I am also personally always changing and evolving. Our physical form and state of health is dependent on our being in balance physically, mentally, emotionally & spiritually. What happens to us changes what happens within us. Physical symptoms can be blocks from unprocessed/unresolved energies from mental, emotional or spiritual origin.

A Holistic Perspective on Long COVID
Long COVID is described as COVID related symptoms that last for more than four weeks. Exact figures of who is suffering with long COVID in Australia are not available but researchers at the University of Tasmania estimate up to 300,000 Australians will be dealing with long COVID for at least 3 months this year. They’ll be battling a myriad of symptoms including debilitating fatigue, brain fog, breathlessness, palpitations, cough, joint and or muscle pain, headaches, chest pain, anxiety and depression.

But Why?? Why do my pains keep coming back? Why do I have chronic illness & persistent pain?

Have the Winter Blues? These Flower Essences can help you.
We are very fortunate here in Canberra to see the sun and some blue skies during the winter season, even though it can get very cold.
However, we can find ourselves feeling less energetic, our mood shifts and we just feel generally run down.
